Template Studio FAQ
What is the grid?
As a template designer, it is important for you to distinguish between a template's grid and its data view(s). The grid is a design tool. You lay out the objects of the template, including its data views, in the grid.
Can I add security to a template?
Security is automatic. To open a template in either mode (reporting or data entry) a user must have permission for at least one model whose data view the template uses. Likewise, when viewing a template, the user is shown only the data views that she has permission to see. Furthermore, to open a template in data entry mode, the user must be assigned the data entry function.
How is Template Studio used?
The appearance and functionality of Template Studio changes depending on your user permissions. Template studio has the following modes:
- Design mode – Used by administrators to create and manage templates.
- Data-entry mode – Used by end users to input data in a structured, guided manner.
- Reporting mode – Used by end users to see reports that are easily accessed and manipulated.
Tip: You can open Template Studio in multiple tabs. You can even open the same template in more than one mode.
