Data view properties
As a template designer, you can view properties and specify various settings for each data view in a template.
Open the properties for a data view
- In Template Studio, open the data view's drawer and click > Properties.
Data Source tab
The Data Source tab shows the data properties of the data view, and is not editable.
Settings tab
Runtime Mode: These options affect how the data view works when end users run it for reporting or data-entry. The "Exclude" options control the appearance of the data view, by hiding rows or columns that lack data, or that the user does not have permission for. The purpose of the other options is as follows:
- Exclude missing rows: Data cells in rows that have no data are hidden.
- Exclude missing columns: Data cells in columns that have no data are hidden.
- Exclude rows with no access: Data cells in rows the user does not have permission to access are hidden.
- Exclude columns with no access: Data cells in columns the user does not have permission to access are hidden.
- Indent rows: The names of child members in the row header are indented relative to their parent.
- Display zero values as missing: Cells with a value of zero are treated as missing values.
-
Data view mode: Determines what the user can do in the data view:
- Read only: Users see data (based on their data permissions) but cannot edit.
- Read and write: Users can both see and edit data, based on their data permissions.
- Write only: Users see no data but can add data.
Design Mode: The mapping options control "smart mapping," which keeps formatting and formulas with the member combination you assign them to, even if you move the member combination to another place in the grid, or change the member selection, causing the number of rows or columns to change. To disable smart mapping, turn off the mapping options.
Spreading tab
In the Spreading tab you can turn on Time spreading, Dimension spreading, or both.
If you turn on spreading, you can turn on one or both of the remaining options:
- Have the user prompted to choose the spread method.
- Set a default spread method (to select it, click ).
If you turn on both options, the default method is selected but the user can override it.
