Page Setup dialog

Use the Page Setup dialog to specify the print settings for a template, including such standard elements as paper size, page orientation, scale, margins, and header and footer content.

 Note:   The dialog is available only in design mode.

Open Page Setup

  • In Template Studio, select File Page Setup.

Use the preview

To see how your change to any print option (Gridlines, Frame, etc.) will appear, in the preview area click .

Page

  • Orientation: Portrait or Landscape.
  • Scaling
    • No scaling: Scaling is turned off.
    • Fit to page: The template shrinks or expands automatically to fit the selected Page Size.
    • Adjust to __ % normal size: The template shrinks to the specified percentage.
    • Fit to __ pages wide/__ pages tall: The template shrinks or expands to fit a specific layout of pages.
  • Page Size: Select according to your printer's paper size.
  • Page Breaks
    • You can set two kinds of page breaks:
      • Static page breaks: You specify the row(s) and/or column(s) where you want page breaks to occur (see below).
      • Dynamic page breaks: The page break occurs after any dynamic member's rows or columns (see below).

Set static page breaks

  1. Click Setup. ThePage Breaks dialog opens, showing the template layout.
  2. Do any of the following:
    • Add a break above a row: select the row and click .
    • Add a break to the left of a column: select the column and click .
    • Remove a page break: select its row or column and click .
    • Remove all page breaks: click Clear All.

       Note:  If you later add or remove rows or columns, your page breaks will move.

Turn on dynamic page breaks

  1. Click Setup.
  2. At the top-right at Dynamic page break: click .

     Note:  Turning on dynamic page breaks overrides any existing static page breaks.

     Note:  If you later add or remove rows or columns, your page breaks will move.

Margins

  • Margin Unit Choose Imperial or Metric units.
  • Margin Size: Set all four margins, as well as header and footer height, in the Margin Unit you specified above.
  • Center On Page: To force the content to be centered in that axis, turn on either or both options.

Header/Footer

Add a header or footer

  1. Inside any combination of Header or Footer and page position (Left, Center, or Right), click .

    The Auto Text dialog opens.

  2. Add the Auto Text element(s) that you want to use.

     Note:  Not all Auto Text elements are available for headers and footers.

  3. Click OK.

     Tip:  To change header/footer height, go to the Margins drawer (see above).

  • Print
    • Gridlines
    • Frame
    • Row and column headings
    • Black and white
  • Print Titles
    • Repeat first # rows at top: Type the number of row titles you want to show on each page.
    • Repeat first # columns at top: Type the number of column titles you want to show on each page.
  • Print Order
    • When the data does not fit on one sheet this option controls the order in which the pages print.
