 Update Cube process

Updating the cube involves reading tables, calculating aggregations, and storing results. You must update the cube after completing the following:

• building and designing the cube
• transferring writeback data
• changing any dimension structures
• running procedural calculations

Updating the cube ensures accurate results when browsing the cube or applying queries.

  Note:  Cubes are automatically updated when dimension changes are saved in Model Manager.

Parameters

This process has the following parameters:

• Description: Optional. Up to 250 characters.

• Connection: Select the connection for the cube you want to update.

• Cube: Select the cube to update.

• Processing Options Select one of the following options:

  • Process full: Completely rebuilds the cube, plus all other cubes that are related based on shared dimensions. The dimension contents will be recreated based on any changes previously made by running an Import Dimension process, and the cube data will also be repopulated to include changes resulting from any recent Import Data processes.

  • Process data: Repopulates the cube data only; does not change the current cube structure.
