Global vectors

What are global vectors? Global vectors are numeric values that are dimensioned only by the Time dimension. Global vectors are created within a scenario in detailed planning .

What are global vectors used for? You use global vectors to enforce assumptions that apply to all the Detailed Planning Objects in your model.

Example:  In personnel planning, the salaries of annually paid staff are spread evenly to all months by default. However, if your company uses a "445" fiscal year where the last month in each quarter contains five full weeks and the other two contain four weeks, you can create a global vector that spreads the annual data in this way.

Another example is calculating monthly values based on days per month. Monthly standard earnings of hourly paid employees are calculated from the number of hours worked per day and the number of days per month. The default number of days per month is 21, giving a total of 252 days per year. You can override this by creating a global vector containing the actual number of working days for each month.

Is global vector data posted to plans ? Global vector data is not posted to the detailed plan or any other model, except coincidentally as part of a calculation.
